Multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, type 1 diabetes, Guillain-Barre syndrome, systemic lupus, inflammatory bowel diseases, etc. are just examples of autoimmune diseases. It is composed of a broad range of human illnesses that comes from the body’s skewed immune system. Specific proteins called autoantibodies are released, and they attack the body’s healthy cells.

Though there is a list of notable treatments that aim to prevent and cure the disease, some researchers are considering a therapy that can be beneficial for individuals who want to use an alternative process for recovery. The conventional medicinal approach can become frustrating if the differentiation of the treatment is unclear. So between the actual cases of autoimmunity, an optimal target of a possible approach is needed to understand the autoimmune disorder better.

Nutritional Therapy – Since autoimmunity is the case of developing antibodies that attack its cells, it is necessary for an individual to control the secondary symptoms instead of addressing the true cause. Nutritional therapy helps in maintaining the balance of the body’s system by simultaneously harmonizing the bio-terrain that gives regulation to the immune activity. It helps in reducing inflammatory infections and trims down damaged cells.  By taking the right amount of proteins and minerals, the liver develops natural tissue antibodies (NTA) that prevent tissue breakdown and target the cells before it even gets infected. The encouragement of a healthy membrane is by adapting essential phospholipids and fatty acids that help in cell regeneration.

Gene Therapy – It is a kind of technological therapy that aims to restore the body’s healthy cells called immune homeostasis. The process will counteract the inflammatory tissue by activating the T cells before any massive cell destruction. Gene therapy uses the advancement of its possibility to destroy modified cells and insert ‘suicide genes’ into the immune system. It is an efficient way to divide the damaged cells and restore its health by integrating stable and well-balanced genes that can bring regulatory proteins. Though gene therapy requires tons of extensive tests, there is a possibility that the retroviral transduction can be useful in managing the damaged cells.

Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) Therapy – The process of IVIg has proven to be safe and effective in treating different types of autoimmune disorders and deficiencies. Its immunomodulatory action creates active anti-idiotypic antibodies that regulate the body’s system and reduce the affliction of systemic lupus and scleroderma. IVIG can directly interact to modulate cytokine function (balancing cell-based immune response) by preventing the target antigens to bind to the already damaged cells. It also enhances its therapeutic effect and improves an individual’s cure rate by up to 50% due to its mild side effects. The clinical manifestation of the treatment can prolong the chances of survival due to its well-oriented application, leading to the improvement of muscle strength.

Most medical practitioners and therapists consider these procedures because of the technological advancements of treating the autoimmune disorder. The underlying causes of chronic diseases and inflammatory conditions can have a long-term effect; therefore, considering possible ways of encouraging therapy is beneficial for those individuals who need to understand its cause.
